An Afghan police chief denied reports today that three more journalists had been killed in eastern Afghanistan.
Iranian state radio reported that three foreign journalists were killed yesterday on the road to Kabul from the eastern Afghan city of Jalalabad, the capital of Nangarhar province.
But Nangarhar police chief Mr Hazrat Ali denied any journalists had been killed since four were ambushed and slain on the Jalalabad-Kabul road on Monday.
The deaths of Reuterscameraman Harry Burton, photographer Azizullah Haidari, Spanish correspondent Julio Fuentes and Italian reporter Maria Grazia Cutuli had brought to seven the number of journalists killed in Afghanistan.
