nN air accident investigation was launched last night at Sheffield Airport after an Aer Arann Express flight from Dublin, carrying 25 passengers and three crew, veered of the runway on landing. No one was hurt in the incident, which occurred at 7.20 p.m., although one woman was said to have suffered shock.
A spokesman for Sheffield Airport said that the aircraft - a Shorts 360 - left the runway on landing and came to rest on a grass verge.
Initial reports suggested that the incident was caused by a tyre bursting when the plane landed.
