Hong Kong - A growing number of Americans are paying $3,000 to adopt a Chinese orphan baby girl, a Hong Kong newspaper said yesterday. The Sunday Morning Post said demand was so high that the US Consulate in Guangzhou had set up an adoption unit staffed by a State Department officer to handle the babies' immigration applications, the first of its kind in an American overseas mission. - (Reuter)
