Sydney - Aboriginal women were used as sex slaves by white farmers and forced to kill their babies, an Aboriginal leader claims.
Brian Butler told a conference his grandmother was one of many women in Alice Springs forced to have sex with farmers and soldiers. "They raped our women and when the babies were born they . . . forced them to kill the babies and bury them, like they did with my grandmother.
Butler said he had been forbidden to tell what had happened to his grandmother until after her death.
A 1997 government report said one in three mixed-race children - up to 100,000 - suffered enforced removal up to the 1960s in a misguided attempt to help them assimilate into white society.
