Paris - A bomb explosion killed nine family members who had resettled in the south of Algiers after thinking the district was safe again, an Algerian newspaper said yesterday.

The bomb, which exploded on Monday, had been "meticulously and discreetly planted in the family home" in Ouled Allel district in the south of Algiers, according to the newspaper Le Soir d'Algerie.

In an another attack, six shepherds had their throats cut in a province of western Algeria where 15 civilians were slaughtered the previous night, Liberte newspaper reported.
