Forty-two children at a multi-denominational Galway primary school have had to stay at home from classes because there is not enough space to accommodate them.

Management at the Galway School Project are still seeking two rooms for the fifth and sixth classes, who have not been able to start the new school year.

Enrolment at the school has grown steadily to 240 pupils since it first opened almost a decade ago.

The school is based in the Corrib Village on NUI Galway campus, but will move to a new premises next year.
