Three hundred jobs are to be created in a £40 million investment at the Gallaher cigarette factory in Larne, Co Antrim, but at the expense of the closure of the Gallaher plant in Manchester with the loss of 100 jobs
Gallaher is shutting down its plant in Hyde, Greater Manchester, where Benson and Hedges and Silk Cut are produced for the British market. The firm said the Senior Service factory would close in three to four years and production switched to Larne with the creation of 300 jobs.
