London - Britain yesterday announced it was making a £25 million pounds payment to help meet increasing demand for safe contraceptives in the developing world.

The one-off payment to the United Nations Population Fund will be spent on male and female condoms and drugs to treat sexually transmitted infections, the Department for International Development (DFID) said in a statement.
