Luanda - Twenty people died and 27 were seriously injured when their truck hit an anti-tank mine on a road in southern Angola this week, the Catholic radio station Ecclesia said yesterday.

The blast occurred on Wednesday on a road between the towns of Mungo and Huambo, some 600 km south of the capital, Luanda, the report said. Seven government soldiers who were accompanying the civilians aboard the truck were among the injured.

Separately, Ecclesia also said that four people had been killed and six injured on Thursday when suspected rebels attacked a village in Bie province, also in the south.
