The 1999 Bloomsday Festival started yesterday with the Dublin Docklands Development Authority hosting the inaugural community day. The free family day provided entertainment and fun in the form of music, dancing, historical tours, boat trips, children's games and much more. Joyce readings were intoned by well-known celebrities and the events of Ulysses were re-enacted.
