Refugees from Kosovo will arrive in Cork Airport next Thursday and will be accommodated in Cork and Kerry. Mr Sean Hurley, chief executive, Southern Health Board, said 100 would be placed in Co Kerry and 50 in Co Cork.
All the arrangements were being co-ordinated by the Refugee Agency.
"Prior to their arrival we won't be able to determine the health status of the refugees, but the SHB will co-operate fully with the agency to ensure that the refugees receive the care which they require," said Mr Hurley.
