A Co Galway father of three who paid to have sex with a 15-year-old boy at the public toilets in Eyre Square, Galway, was sentenced to 12 months in prison when he appeared before Galway Circuit Court yesterday.
John Hickey (43), formerly of Corrandulla, Co Galway, admitted the sexual assault on the boy on a date unknown during August and September, 1995, and committing an act of gross indecency on the boy on another occasion.
Judge Carroll Moran sentenced Hickey to 12 months in prison on both charges, to run concurrently, and backdated it to December 1st last year.
