For a good dose of the real spirit of Halloween head to Virginia, Co Cavan where for the sixth year running, the town pulls together and throws the best Halloween celebration by a country mile. The Hothouse Flowers will headline at the Pumpkin Dome tonight, and tomorrow the family festivities run from noon til 8pm including a weigh-in of pumpkins flown in from all over the world. Around 5.30pm things get creepy as the town blacks out in advance of the spectacular Halloween parade, which leads people to the lakeside for a fireworks display. Grown-up highlight of the weekend has to be the fancy dress attended by 2,000 people in the dome on Sunday night. For more see virigina.ie
