A round-up of other travel news in brief
Nanobreaks on the rise
Nanobreaks, or single-night holidays in hotels, are becoming increasingly popular as stressed workers try to strike a work-life balance while taking advantage of half-price deals. There has been a 30 per cent increase in Irish travellers searching online for nanobreaks over the past year, according to Hotels.com. Weekend stays in Belfast jumped 114 per cent last month as people living south of the Border took advantage of the exchange rate, as well as lower costs in hotels in restaurants. Searches rose by 105 per cent for Dublin nanobreaks, by 68 per cent for Cork nanobreaks and by 227 per cent for Limerick. Berlin (up 129 per cent) and Madrid (up 118 per cent) were the most popular European nanobreak spots.
