Up for a walk?Upperchurch Walking Weekend takes place in north Co Tipperary from November 7th to 9th. The weekend will start with a talk by Seamus Ó Dugain on Tipperary landscape and history. There are treks to suit all grades of walker, including the Slí Eamoinn an Chnoic Walk, the Knockalough Walk, the Upperchurch Loop Walk and the Birch Hill Walk. www.upperchurch.ie.

Walk leader trainingThe final Irish Heart Foundation Slí na Sláinte walking-leader training weekend for 2008 takes place in Rosslare, Co Wexford, from November 7th to 9th. Leader training is aimed at people wishing to promote walking in their community or workplace. The course aims to motivate people to take up walking, as well as to plan and lead safe, enjoyable walking sessions for small groups. The Irish Heart Foundation is subsidising the price of the leader-training weekend, which costs €80.

This covers two nights' shared accommodation, as well as breakfast, lunch, tutor costs and course materials. To reserve a place download an application form from www.irishheart.ie/sli.

Halloween fresh airAghadoe Heights Hotel & Spa, in Co Kerry, has organised outdoor adventures to entertain the young over the bank-holiday weekend. There will be a chance to climb Ireland's highest peak, Carrauntoohil, and to cross a section of the Macguillycuddy's Reeks ridge. For the less adventurous, a gentle walk has been organised in Killarney National Park.
