Burren walking breaksThe Old Ground Hotel in Ennis, Co Clare, has teamed up with Tony Kirby's Heart of Burren Walks to offer walking breaks this month. The packages, which are available from Easter weekend, will allow guests to experience the unique landscape of the Burren together with the warm welcome and hospitality of the Old Ground Hotel. The dates coincide with wild-flower season in the Burren, letting participants experience the Burren at its most beautiful. Two nights' accommodation with full Irish breakfasts, one evening meal, a packed lunch, transport to and from the Burren and a full day's walking, guided by Kirby, are included in the package. Star gazingMy colleague Bernice Harrison mentioned it last week in her Go Kids column, but there's no harm mentioning again that between 8pm and 10pm today, at the Upper Lake area in Glendalough, Co Wicklow, you can go along and observe the night sky through powerful telescopes set up by members of the Irish Astronomical Society. This free event is suitable for all the family but is dependent on good weather. Call 0404-45425 to check that it is taking place. Booking is not necessary.
