Mountain High:If you've ever fancied tackling Kilimanjaro, Africa's highest mountain, you can go along to an information night at the North Face Store in Temple Bar in Dublin on Wednesday at 7.30pm. There will be a talk about the climb, as well as advice on footwear, clothing and equipment and on medical issues such as what vaccines are needed, altitude sickness and malaria. Walking tall

A new walking festival will take place next weekend, May 7th-9th, in Nenagh, Co Tipperary.

It consists of a selection of five guided walks, including Keeper Hill and the Arra Mountains, to suit all abilities. The festival is organised by Aonach ar Siúl Hillwalking Club, which is charging a €15 registration fee for the walks on both Saturday and Sunday or €10 for one of the days. Other activities during the weekend will include a visit to Killoscully, location for the RTÉ TV series Killinaskully, and the festival Dinner and Blister Ball, on Saturday night, for which tickets cost €35. 067-43949, nenaghwalk.ie.
