Scandinavian style

Of the many lavish coffee table books that cross the Magazine's desk, there have been many takers for The Scandinavian Home: A Style Sourcebookfrom Thames Hudson.

The hallmarks of Scandinavian design and good taste are all here: clean, elegant lines, delicate colour schemes in pared down, comfortably elegant, environmentally-friendly homes. It’s got 300 photographs of modern kitchens with old-fashioned hearths, cosy attic bedrooms, folk art-painted walls, Danish Modern chairs, Moro clocks, inviting front porches and lots of blue and white crockery and tiles. It’s sure to inspire a spring house project or two. The images conform to the gorgeous paintings in those children’s books illustrated by Carl Larsson.
