Two big charity lunches are taking place next Friday afternoon.
The actor and author Amy Huberman will launch the annual ISPCC Brown Thomas fashion show at the Four Seasons Hotel in Ballsbridge next Friday. It’s a ladies’ lunch, so Amy won’t be taking her husband, Brian O’Driscoll. Instead she will be accompanied by her mother, Sandra Huberman. Guests will get a look at the autumn-winter 2012 international collections from BT’s Designer Rooms. The event will be supported by guests including Caroline Downey, Clodagh Hopkins, Penny Dix, Sharon Smurfit, Annette Rocca and Maureen Gunne. Guests will also have a chance to sample DJ Mo Kelly. She has taken up a residency at the Ice Bar on Thursdays and Fridays. Kelly is also a painter and her work is being hung in the Ice Bar.
Meanwhile, in the city centre, the Westin Hotel’s Banking Hall will be turned into a Virgin Atlantic VIP lounge for a fashion lunch in aid of the Rape Crisis Centre. Joe Supple, aka Miss Candy, is due to take to the stage as MC, and Rebecca Storm will perform some of her hits. The fashion designer Dawn Fitzgerald will showcase her new collection. The annual lunch, which is in its 17th year, has raised in excess of €1.5 million. A trip of a lifetime worth €25,000 will be auctioned.
The former Fade Street star Louise Johnston is hostess of Casa Bacardi at Electric Picnic this weekend. Ed Sheeran, Guy Garvey and Brandon Flowers are expected there today.
