Congratulations to Dunshaughlin florist Jenny Murphy who will be at this year’s Chelsea Flower Show (May 22nd-26th), competing to become the Royal Horticultural Society’s Chelsea Florist of the Year.
She’s a second-generation florist, working alongside her mother at Flowers By Moira in the Co Meath town (01-8259948).
The pre-selection challenge was to create a table centerpiece for the UK Olympic team. Her winning design is a tubular column one metre in length, featuring spray red roses, blue hyacinth and blue grape hyacinth. It also has white Phalaenopsis orchids to represent England, thistles for Scotland and white paper narcissi for Wales. “The daffodil is the official Welsh flower – the narcissi was a play on tradition,” Murphy says.
