The owner of a house in Dublin’s Heytesbury Street is being tormented by strangers ringing his doorbell

The owner of a house in Dublin’s Heytesbury Street is being tormented by strangers ringing his doorbell. The reason? A few weeks ago he installed a canvas sun cover on his front door, of the sort that used to be common on Dublin doors years ago.

Having spent two years trying to find someone to make one, he discovered a supplier almost on his doorstep: Peter Johnson Interiors of Lombard Street West in Dublin 8. Johnson supplied and fitted the bold navy and white striped fabric, a hardwearing waterproof cotton canvas. The cost, including fabric, making and fitting, comes to €400. It saves on repainting wood damaged by the effects of sun and can be easily removed in winter. Contact Peter or Natasha Johnson at 01-4537088, peterjohnsoninteriors.ie
