Kevin Jones has been dealing in antiques on Francis Street in Dublin for more than 20 years, but will close the doors of his shop, Select Interiors, for the last time this weekend. He’s moving on to pastures new and – good news for those in search of a bargain – is selling off furniture, with many pieces down to a couple of hundred euro. In recent years, Jones has been mixing reproduction furniture with antiques, and much of what is now available are pieces with an Art Deco bent – imagine striking occasional tables in exotic woods with curving legs.

There are also cocktail cabinets, chests of drawers, dining chairs and console tables in the same style. I love two tall plinths that could be used to display sculptures and bring structure to a room where there is none. Some things are quirkier, such as carved marble wall brackets or a demi-lune two-door cabinet with gold and silver high relief. While some things are for a specific taste, there are some real treasures. Visit early before the best pieces are snapped up. Select Interiors, 65-66 Francis Street, Dublin 8, 01-4546626.
