Routes to avoid around the country during the week ahead

DUBLIN: Realignment works on Mullinastill Road and Falls Road will close both from this Friday until Friday September 5th. Local access will be maintained at all times. The alternative route will be via Stonebridge Road, Dublin Road and the N11. Cherrywood Road will be a cul-de-sac for the duration of these works.

Resurfacing takes place on Watery Lane, Clondalkin, next Saturday and Sunday. The road will temporarily close from junction with Orchard Lane to entrance to Mayfield Caravan Park. Alternative routes are via Orchard Lane, Monastery Road, Woodford Hill, Woodford Walk and via Orchard Lane, Main Street, Tower Road, Ninth Lock Road and Nangor Road.

A cycle race will take place in the Phoenix Park, between 7pm and 9pm next Tuesday. The following roads will be closed to traffic: Main Road (between Phoenix Junction and Mountjoy Cross), Survey Road (between junction with Main Road and Furze junction), Upper Glen and Knockmaroon Road. Traffic will be diverted or halted at: Phoenix Junction, Mountjoy Junction and junction of Survey Road, Upper Glen Road, Furze Road and Knockmaroon Road.

Park Road, Dún Laoghaire, will close from 12pm to 6pm on Saturday and Sunday, August 23rd and 24th to facilitate events for the Festival of World Cultures 2003. Local access will be maintained. Alternative route will be via Georges Street Upper, Marine Road, and Queens Road.

Ballybrack Rd, Glencullen, is closed until August 31st for drainage and resurfacing. Alternative route is via Tibraden Rd/College Rd/ Harolds Grange Rd/ Blackglen Rd/ Enniskerry Rd and vice versa.

Celbridge Road inbound towards Clane is down to one lane for roadworks from Monday to Friday from 7am - 7pm until mid-September.

Races at Leopardstown on Sunday will cause delays on Stillorgan Rd and Leopardstown Rd.

MEATH: Construction work continues on Ballybin Road (between Ashbourne and Ratoath) until further notice. The road is closed from Ratoath side. Expect rush hour delays.

LOUTH: Roundabout at end of M1 in Dundalk is restricted to one lane until at least Friday. Extreme caution is advised as part of a railing was damaged in an accident.

CARLOW: Roadworks at junction of N9/Hanover Junction, Barrack St/Kennedy Avenue until September.

GALWAY: Parkmore Road is closed at N17 (Tuam Road) until about the end of August for roadworks. Traffic cannot get through from Monivea Road to Tuam Road.

WESTMEATH: Roadworks on Longford Road, Mullingar, Monday to Friday from 8am to 8pm. Peak-time delays likely. Works on Mullingar by-pass with a lane closure westbound Monday to Friday from 8am to 8pm until the end of August.

CORK: Watercourse Road closed from Maddens Buildings to Berwick Lane until year's end for laying of new culvert. Diversion via new Blackpool Bypass Rd. Thomas Davis Street will continue as a single line traffic system for access to Blackpool only for these works. Marlboro Street closed until 6:00pm on Friday the 29th of August.
