Revamped look for Alfa replacement

THIS IS an illustration of the long-awaited Alfa Romeo replacement for its aged 166 flagship.

Being billed as the 169 it was originally pencilled in for launch this year, but several delays due to management changes at the firm combined with issues over the final platform decisions. The launch date is now predicted to be mid-2011.

The 169 will also mark a departure away from large saloon flagships towards a more four-door coupé format. Following on from the success of the Mercedes CLS and several other recently launched four-door coupés, Alfa is eager to use the popular acclaim for its 8C sports car to revamp its look.
