BMW to replace K1200LT tourer
ACCORDING TO the motorcycle rumour mill, BMW is set to release a motorcycle to replace the K1200LT tourer.
This machine will have a 1600cc six-cylinder engine with ESA electronic suspension adjustment technology and hard panniers as standard.
The new bike should be released in 2010.
It was supposed to be unveiled at the 2009 Paris Motorcycle Show, but this event has been cancelled due to the economic downturn.
The event was set to take place this October but has had to be called off due to a lack of interest from Europe's main motorcycle manufacturers.
According the managing director of the show, Thierry Hesse, the reason for this cancellation is the lack of interest shown by large manufacturers in exhibiting in France, above all because of the current economic situation around the world.
Electric sports bike from Zero
ZERO MOTORCYCLES has an electric supermoto sports bike in the pipeline.
The 125cc motorcycle will be based on the Zero S Supermoto and is set to make around 31bhp from a 4kWh battery.
According to Neil Saiki of Zero Motorcycles, they wanted to create a racy electric version of the 125cc motorcycle with "full fairing, make it aerodynamic and make it racy-looking".
"That should be a really popular motorcycle," he said, adding that it would "probably our most popular motorcycle".
