Electric bike race for 2010

FOLLOWING THE first zero-emissions motorcycle race at the Isle of Man TTXGP, electric motorcycle racing is set to spread.

The Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme (FIM) has announced plans to run an environmentally-friendly racing series in 2010.

The new series will be run in the Road Racing Grand Prix Commission, led by the founder of the TTXGP, Azhar Hussain.

Yamaha’s inline- four engine

RUMOURS SUGGEST that Yamaha motorcycles is in the process of developing an inline-four intercooled and turbocharged diesel engine.

Patent drawings unearthed by online biking magazine, Hell for Leather, reveal that the diesel bike has the intercooler above the engine and a turbocharger mounted adjacent to the cylinder head.

“Such an arrangement would make the turbocharger and intercooler less vulnerable, reduce turbo lag and improve packaging for a more compact design,” says the magazine.
