Council says yes to 76 homes on site of Cabinteely houses

Dún Laoghaire Rathdown County Council has granted Alan and Lynda McFarlane planning permission to demolish two houses, Navarone and Tablick, at Brennanstown Road in Cabinteely and build 76 apartments and townhouses in two blocks. The McFarlanes' proposal was one of a number in the area which involved knocking large houses and building higher density developments in their grounds.

The council granted planning permission subject to 39 conditions, including that in line with the national children's play policy, Ready Steady Play, provision should be made to include "suitable play opportunities for the future population of all ages".

The plan is to build 55 two-bed apartments, one one-bed, 16 three-beds and four three-bed townhouses on the 2.27-acre site. The blocks are both part four and part five-storey, and there would be basement car-parking for 111 cars and 150 bicycle spaces.
