The South Dublin village of Stepaside is to get another large residential development. Castlethorn Construction has just secured permission for 509 houses at Newtown Little, along with a local village centre which will include a four-storey block with a medical centre, newsagents, pharmacy, apart-hotel, a supermarket and restaurant.

Meanwhile, Cannon & Kirk of Eden Quay, Dublin 1, have lodged a planning application for a residential and commercial development at Woodside in Sandyford, Co Dublin. It will include 125 houses and apartments, and 14 commercial/living units.

In the city centre, the planners have approved a proposal to demolish The Baggot Inn on Lower Baggot Street and replace it with a new bar, entertainment venue and offices.
