Shopfront: Shag carpets of the 1970s - those hairy rugs you could lose your toes in - have a contemporary equivalent at O'Hagan Design.

From Spain, the Naninarquina carpet is made up of long tentacle tubes of cream wool that fall over one another to create an effect similar to the original "shag".

Extremely exaggerated texture seems be a trend, with most top-end carpet specialists now offering something with 3-D weaves. They really aren't for heavy wear (those with children, forget it), which may be why O'Hagan Design sells this one in three rug-like sizes. 80 x 140 cm costs €497, 170 x 270 cm, €1,770 and 200 x 250 cm, €2,200.
