THE SELLER:Edain O'Donnell What and whereTwo-bedroom terraced house with artist's studio at the back at 19 Millmount Avenue, off Drumcondra Road, Dublin 9.

Describe the house

It's a 100-year-old redbrick with a modest exterior and many period features. It has an extensive attic conversion that's used as a third bedroom, the main one, with an en suite and a proper stairs. It is a very welcoming bright house with a homely atmosphere and an easy house to heat. I have built a studio at the rear with a high ceiling - it's a lovely tranquil place to work in. It backs onto a quiet narrow road (Millbourne Avenue).

Why are you moving?

I'm at a creative crossroads, and I need to move to the countryside. I've been working as a scenic artist in the film industry but need to get back to the drawing board and paint again. The eldest of my two children is nearly four and it would be good to move before she starts school.

What's the best thing about it?

It's a great area for children: there's a playground in Griffith Park nearby, and an excellent junior school literally at the back.

The neighbourhood?

It's an old residential and very green area with many young families, seconds from the Tolka River and Griffith Park, and a short walk from the Botanic Gardens. I feed the ducks every day with my two girls.

Millmount is quiet yet it's close to Drumcondra Road with shops, cafés and bars nearby. James Joyce lived at the end of the road, and described the area in Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man.

Who would like your home?

A family - there are great community facilities for children, many great schools within walking distance and five family houses on the road. On New Year's Eve neighbours stood out on the road sharing glasses of champagne - it has a village feel. It would also suit anyone wanting to work from a home studio. It's a half hour walk to town.
