The Baker Furniture Company has an American gloss which means its furniture is particularly well made, and the style is neat freak New Yorker all over - shapes with a nod to art deco, white and cream fabrics, dark woods, a bit of elegant modernism and a spot of patriarchal hauteur.
You may not like all of it, but stick to the unpretentious modern pieces and stay away from the reproductions and you'll find it really is very good, elegant, contemporary stuff.
