The interior designer was inspired by the Arts and Crafts movement and the shelving was made by a carpenter. The 1930s lampshades attached to the shelving unit were purchased in Boston and rewired by a lighting shop. This service can cost as little as €20-€30 per lampshade depending on the fabric used. A symmetrical room needs furniture and accessories that come in pairs. The green velvet chairs came from a store that has since closed but Duff Tisdall (01 2051119) can custom-make similar ones for €1,600-€1,900, each depending on fabric. Minnie Peters has a similar style of armchair ranging from €1,250 each. The fireplace is the Palmerson polished cast-iron fireplace from Buckleys Fireplaces (01 2936952) and cost around €1,700. A similar fully upholstered Club armchair is available at €725 from Flanagans of Mount Merrion. The dark wenge floor was specially ordered through M Kelly Interiors (01 2851444) and cost around €150 per sq m including VAT.
