Irish Life has been refused planning permission to demolish industrial premises and replace them with retail warehousing beside the Old Malahide Road at Coolock Industrial Estate, Dublin 5. Irish Life had sought permission for 35,000 sq ft of new space, a free-standing restaurant and 169 car-parking spaces. Dublin Corporation's planners ruled that the development would materially contravene the development plan and would set an undesirable precedent for similar schemes on other industrially zoned land.
