French-style children's bed, £375Reverie, Sandycove Road, Sandycove, Co DublinIt's "sturdy but pretty and boys like it too", says Laura George of the French-style children's bed that has being causing a stir since her shop, Reverie opened less than a month ago.

"The whole family could curl up and read a story on this bed and it would still be standing. It takes forever to find something attractive that kids actually like, but it seems like we've achieved it," she said.

Sales of the bed have surpassed expectation, and according to George, owner of Reverie, this in part is due its versatility.

"So far, off-white has been the preferred colour but it can come in any paint finish, in different sizes to suit toddlers or teenagers or in a bunk-bed version. So it's really adaptable and I think people like that because there's not a whole lot of choice out there when it comes to buying kids' beds."
