UK/from €365,746: Irish investors may be tempted into the London market with a small scheme of two and three-bedroom homes new to the market this week.

Longcourt Mews in Wanstead, at the western edge of Essex, is a scheme of 15 houses with prices starting at €365,746 for two-bedroom terrace houses. Two-bedroom houses with a small conservatory and larger gardens are priced at €394,969.

Jim Long, of Longcourt New Homes, who is originally from Co Limerick, is the developer behind the scheme.

Wanstead village is on the outskirts of London, but both Wanstead and Snarebrook central line underground stations offer 20 minute journey times to the City and the West End of London.

The proposed Olympic village at Stratford is close by - a 10-minute drive, or two stops on the underground. The M11, A12 and A406 offer speedy access to Stansted and City airports.

The development is well positioned to benefit from the uplift in property values that have followed other cities which have hosted the Olympic Games, according to Colin Gill from selling agents Churchill Estates in Wanstead.

Property in the area has experienced 20 per cent capital appreciation in the last six months alone, he explains.
