A new phase of apartments and duplexes at the elegant Waterville Terrace development in the former grounds of Blanchardstown Memorial Hospital go on show this weekend.
Agent Leahy Property Consultants will be taking bookings for 24 apartments priced from £147,000 (186,650).
This is the cost of 16 two-bedroom first-floor apartments with 650 sq ft of accommodation. There are also six two-bedroom ground floor units from £150,000 (190,461) and two 1,170 sq ft three-bedroom duplex apartments from £178,000 (226,010).
The Waterville Terrace scheme has been designed by architects Burke Kennedy Doyle in an unusual zig-zag layout and built by well-established Newlyn Developments.
The development is located in the choicest part of the expansive Waterville site, facing a man-made lake and landscaped park. Residents can access the village centre via a winding road through the hospital grounds.
All the apartments have their own hall door and south-facing balcony or terrace looking out on the lake. The ground and first-floor two-bedroom units have an entrance lobby leading to a spacious sitting/diningroom with the kitchen directly off. First floor apartments have a slightly smaller living area, compensated for by a large sit-out balcony.
Timber fireplaces fitted with a coal-effect gas fire are standard and bay windows open out to either a tiled balcony or terrace. Kitchens come fully equipped with electrical appliances - an indication of the current competition in the marketplace. Shaker-style kitchen units are of limed ash and there is room for a breakfast table. The main bedroom includes an en suite shower room.
Large by any standards, the three-bedroom duplex apartments have almost 1,200 sq ft of living space spread over two floors.
There is an L-shaped sitting cum dining area with access to an exceptionally large balcony. The wood-look fireplace has a gas fire and alcoves on either side for bookshelves. The kitchen is also a good size, with a full range of appliances.
Upstairs, there are two double bedrooms - one en suite - and one single room. The main bedroom has a wall of panelled wardrobes.
The mature grounds are a major attraction of the Waterville scheme. Several stands of old deciduous trees have been retained, with a metal boundary fence specially designed to allow wildlife to come and go within the gardens.
A total of 326 units will eventually be built at Waterville Terrace. The 24 for sale this weekend will be ready for occupation from now until January 2002. The entire development will be completed by December 2002.
The show apartments are open this Saturday and Sunday from 2.30 p.m. to 5 p.m and the following Wednesday from 6 p.m. to 7.30 p.m.
Viewers can access the site by travelling through Blanchardstown Village and crossing the M50 flyover. Waterville Terrace is at the far end of the site, close to Blanchardstown Hospital.
