Shoparound: As shoppers get stuck into the sales season, the really serious sale specialists are waiting for Habitat's last hurrah on St Stephen's Green next week.

Already well into its summer sale, from next Monday Habitat's Dublin branch will be cutting prices on all items in the shop to clear the way for their big move to the former Bank of Ireland premises on College Green later this summer.

As part of its current summer sale, Habitat is offering good prices on lights, linens and glassware. There is 15 per cent off upholstery and between 20 and 50 per cent off lots of furniture and home accessories. Particularly good value is the handsome Havana Chair, which has been reduced by 40 per cent.

However, from next week the store will be launching a full clearance sale with most items reduced by 50 per cent. Prices will continue to drop in the following days according to manager John Adams.

The shop will stay open until all items on the shop floor are sold, he added. The plan is to have the new premises up and running by early August. However, buyers will have to take titems away on the spot as the shop won't hold goods or deliver them.

The move to College Green offers Habitat "a larger and more dramatic" premises, according to Adams. The traditional setting of the old bank building should make for a good backdrop to Habitat's contemporary furniture, he said.

Aside from that, the move gives the store one third more space than on St Stephen's Green. This will allow Habitat to offer a new blend to customers, including a Relax Café, a flower store and a number of other offers from concession partners.
