The Whelan Partnership is reporting considerable interest, particularly from call centre operators, for high-spec, air conditioned office space in the former Northern Ireland Electricity (NIE) offices at Stranmillis, in south Belfast. The 1960s office building, set in parkland surrounding Danesfort House, the 19th century mansion which still stands on the 20-acre site, has been extensively modernised. About 58,000 sq ft of space is available for letting at around £12 per sq ft sterling, which is at the upper end of office rental levels in the North. Four floors are available in the building and NIE is retaining one floor for its property section. Viridian Group plc, the electricity holding company, has its corporate headquarters in Danesfort House. There is on-site parking for 500 cars and a new 344 multi-decked car park is being developed on the site.
