The final phase of Tolka Vale, a development of two-bedroom apartments and penthouses on the banks of the River Tolka, between Glasnevin and Finglas in Dublin 11, goes on sale today at prices from £132,950.

The apartments are located off the Old Finglas Road, near the Janelle Shopping Centre, and are convenient to Dublin City University, the airport the M50 motorway and the city centre.

The Ross McParland agency, which is handling sales, will be taking bookings from plans at its Donnybrook office from today. Show units will be open on Saturday and Sunday from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.

There are 30 two-bedroom units in the last of the three blocks being built. Eight penthouses with floor areas between 715 and 1,150 sq ft are also being released at prices from £175,000 to £250,000.

The complex will have a total of 100 apartments and opens on to a path along the riverbank. Both first-time buyers and investors with an eye to the obvious letting potential will be interested in the scheme.

While this is the first venture for Cortip Developments, builder Harvey Contractors is well-known on the Dublin construction scene. Architect Stephen Byrne has designed the development on an ultramodern theme, with part brick and rendered exteriors and curved lines. The 30 two-bedroom apartments on offer from today vary in size from 636 sq ft to 734 sq ft, with two extra-large units measuring 1,049 sq ft and 1,148 sq ft. Prices range from £132,950 for the smallest two-bed units up to £155,000 with the penthouses selling from £175,000. All the apartments are ready for immediate occupation.

Interiors vary: some are rectangular, others square-shaped. Bathroom and kitchen wall tiling, fireplaces and high-quality kitchens are standard in all the units.

There is a sittingroom with a dining area and a fitted maple Shaker-style kitchen off it. Timber fireplaces with slate insets are standard and these are wired for an electric fire. There are two bedrooms, one double and one single, with maple wardrobes. The bathroom is off the entrance hall.

Upper floor apartments have small balconies suitable for flower tubs, and the eight penthouses have large roof terraces. Underground parking is included in the purchase price. Communal decks outside are an unusual feature and there are electronically-controlled security gates at the entrance.
