Business chance in Rathdrum

A property with business potential is for sale in Rathdrum, Co Wicklow

A property with business potential is for sale in Rathdrum, Co Wicklow. Park House, Corballis, is a large Edwardian house on half an acre situated on the road to Avoca and near Rathdrum village. It is for sale by private treaty with H J Byrne of Bray, which is quoting about £350,000.

Built in the early 1900s, the house has previously been a guest house and a bistro restaurant. When its present owners, John and Grainne Hatton, bought it two years ago, they had plans to open it as a bed & breakfast. They refurbished the house with an eye to period detail in a revamp which included fitting pine panelled interior doors, pine skirting boards and dado rails and redecorating throughout in Edwardian style. The house has 4,000 sq ft of accommodation including a large drawing/diningroom, two ground-floor bedrooms and six first-floor bedrooms, a bathroom, two shower rooms and an 800 sq ft extension, which functioned as the restaurant. This room could operate as a stand-alone restaurant, or become the guest diningroom if the house were to revert to guest house use. Alternatively, the house would work as a fine spacious family home.

There are four reception rooms including drawing room, diningroom, a study with a shelved cupboard and alcove and a family room with double windows and a stone fireplace and hearth. The family kitchen/ breakfastroom has oak-style fittings and pine wall panelling and there is an adjoining utility room. Two shower rooms, a cloakroom, and two bedrooms complete the ground-floor accommodation.

Upstairs, there are six more bedrooms, four of them doubles, all with fitted wardrobes and sinks. A gravelled apron at the front of the house provides ample parking, while side and rear gardens are set in lawn.
