A consortium led by singer Bono's brother, Norman Newson, has secured in the region of £2

A consortium led by singer Bono's brother, Norman Newson, has secured in the region of £2.75 million for Scotts restaurant and bar at Castleknock, Co Dublin, which was developed by the group in 1990 after they bought the Castleknock Inn for £800,000.

The business was withdrawn at a Morrissey auction at £2.3 million and sold in subsequent negotiations to Terenure publican Eamon Gerady and his son, Ray. Scotts had a turnover of £1.36 million last year. The new owners are expected to redesign the building, which has a floor area of 11,000 sq ft.

Meanwhile, Morrisseys are currently marketing two Dublin pubs owned by housebuilder Mr Bill Durcan. The premises are Denzilles in Fenian Street, which is expected to make around £750,000, and Kennedys of Westland Row, which should fetch over £1.75 million.
