All white kitchen with a dash of lime

LIME GREEN chairs provide the only ping of colour in the otherwise white kitchen of 27 Green Road

LIME GREEN chairs provide the only ping of colour in the otherwise white kitchen of 27 Green Road. The kitchen layout was designed by the current owner, Susan Meade, an interior design graduate who is also an accomplished cook and wanted the kitchen to work around her.

The unusual chocolate brown floor is in Tarralay Comfort, a cushioned lino which provides a durable surface that is soft to walk on and can take spills in its stride. Paddy Warren Carpets (087 2564968) stocks it and it costs from €40 per sq m (€3.72 per sq ft), depending on the condition of the floor.

Susan selected an IKEA white Abstrakt kitchen (www.ikeakitchenhq.co.uk) because of its simple clean lines: it costs from £1,600 (€2,014). Dulux Swedish White on the walls continues the crisp white theme.

The centrepiece of the kitchen is the white Aga, inherited from the previous owner: as well as being an oven, it's great for heating the kitchen in the winter and for drying clothes. New Agas start at around €10,500 at Campbell Cooke (01 4136466) and Fired Earth Interiors (01 6636166).
