More than 750,000 people visited the Henry Street/Mary Street shopping area of Dublin in the week ending November 3rd last, according to a survey carried out by the Henry Street Mary Street Partnership.

The findings compare with 527,000 recorded in the week ending March 24th last. When the first survey was taken, only the Jervis Centre was open on the Sunday while in November both the Jervis Centre and the ILAC were open.

Market research also indicated that more than 80 per cent of the pedestrians in Henry Street Mary Street were there specifically to shop. Ed McDonald of the partnership said that with the completion of the expanded development of Arnotts, the completion of a major extension to Marks & Spencer and a number of other developments in the area, they looked forward to Henry Street/Mary Street enjoying major success as Ireland's pre-eminent retail location.
