TASTING: La Cave Wine Bar in South Anne Street, Dublin 2, will be running a series of introductory wine tasting evenings. Starting on April 27th, these will include an introduction to grape varieties, food and wine matching and other topics. The fee of €35 per evening includes a light meal. Book on 01-6794409.

COURSES:The Wine Board of Ireland is also running two introductory wine courses, one a two-hour fun presentation (€39) about wine, the other a one day session, costing €135, to include lunch in a local restaurant. FAIR DAY:Cellars, the Big Wine Warehouse on the Naas Road in Dublin, is holding a food and wine fair today. There will be a farmers' market with wine-related foods such as olive oils, breads, cheese, charcuterie and other goodies on sale. Mary Dowey will be holding a New World versus Old World wine tasting (tickets are €20, proceeds go to Focus Ireland), and a free "green wine" tasting.
