Two New Zealand Marlborough wines to try: Classic sauvignon blanc and a light, fruity pinot noir

Wines for the Weekend: Both of these bottles are perfect for summer drinking

Two New Zealand wines from Dunnes Stores this week. Marlborough is famous for intensely aromatic fresh sauvignon blanc. More recently it has been making a name for light and fruity pinot noir too. Both of these wines would make ideal summer drinking. The pinot noir will taste even more refreshing if served very lightly chilled.

Rapaura Springs Classic Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc 2023

A classic Marlborough sauvignon with lifted herbal aromas and racy lime and mango fruits. Perfect summer drinking either by itself or with all kinds of seafood. A great partner for herby citrus Asian dishes or salads featuring asparagus, fresh herbs, feta, goat’s cheese, or a basil-scented tomato salad; 13% abv, €11.50.

Rapaura Springs Pinot Noir 2022, Rohe-Awatere Valley, Marlborough

Fresh bright raspberry and cherry fruits with a light spicy, herby note. This would be nice with cold meats, grilled tuna or salmon, grilled duck breast or a mushroom risotto; 13.% abv, €15.20.
