The Music Network has published the Waterford Music Report, writes Michael Dervan.
This 126-page overview of music in Waterford city and county took two years to prepare and the consultation process involved close to 700 individuals, groups and organisations. Many of the issues raised apply with equal force across the country - the need for teacher training and resources for music in primary and secondary schools, for a peripatetic music tuition service, for the development of intra-musical networking, and for support mechanisms for people with disabilities as well as communities currently excluded due to socio-economic and geographical factors.
