AN unusual early 19th century mahogany circular gaming table, its sectioned leather top holding six counter wells, carried a pre-sale estimate of £2,000-£3,000 but made the day's top price of £4,200 at Hamilton Osborne King's recent auction. From the same period, a mahogany inlaid slope front bureau, with inlaid drawers and pigeonholes, went for £3,290, while an English oak and fruitwood kneehole desk dating from the 18th century sold for £2,100.
Other notable prices included £2,000 for a 19th century mahogany, ebony inlaid and cross banded breakfast table, £1,900 for a mahogany extending moulded dining table, again 19th century, £1,600 for an early 19th century mahogany wardrobe and £1,450 for another extending mahogany dining table.
