The Heineken Weekender makes its debut in Waterford next weekend, continuing in a new tradition of bringing the best hip-hop, funk, acid-jazz and junglists to the dance-hungry natives. The four-day floor show launches next Thursday (10th) at the Bridge, where the Metalheadz posse will deliver some steel-clad soundz, and the whole beatfest is headlined by The James Taylor Quartet at Garter Lane on Friday night. Other acts hitting the decks over the weekend include Kris Needs of Secret Knowledge reknown (The Bridge, Friday), The Dirty Beatniks (Garter Lane, Saturday), and the Afro-Celt Sound System, a cross-cultural soundclash which features the awesome sight of uilleann pipe master Davy Spillane largin it up. All shows start at 10 p.m.

and tickets are available from Sinnott's in Waterford and usual outlets nationwide.

Radiohead are confirmed to play an outdoor gig at the RDS Showgrounds on Saturday 21st June; support for the big day out will be Bristol trip-hoppers Massive Attack. Tickets go on sale tomorrow.

But you've only just been here dept: after last Sunday's sellout gig in Dublin, The Beautiful South return to these shores on July 19th, this time to Galway's Castlegar Sports Grounds.

Support act is Ocean Colour Scene, also back after three February shows. Other bands on the rebound include Placebo (SFX, May 9th) and The Divine Comedy (Dublin Castle, May 2th).
