The Bronx III Wichita ***:Who needs an album title when you have the swagger of these four LA hardchaws?
While three self- titled albums in a row don't make it easy for record store clerks to go about their business in the B racks, everyone else will just get on with feeling the width of the Bronx's crunchy guitars and lyrical bravado. There's nothing new about this hollering, rollicking punk rock ( Bad Brainsand Big Blackare shamelessly regurgitated here again and again). But the band have more than enough rabble-rousing tunes, pin-sharp choruses and scorched-earth grooves to make light of such comparisons. Tracks such as the opening Knifeman, the smashing Young Bloodsand the riff-heavy Enemy Mindare the ones to remember from this eminently pleasurable assault on the ears. On the evidence of III, US punk is very much alive and kicking. www.my space.com/thebronx
