Standards slip in Edinburgh

The sad decline of the Edinburgh Film Festival continues.

Following complaints about a lacklustre programme and problems with organisation (the gala screening of The Guardwas delayed when the projector broke down) it has now emerged that the event, the oldest film festival in Britain, is advertising for a new director. James Mullighan, only in the job since January, is expected to reapply. Something needs to be done about the withering of a once-great institution.
